I've listened to Wilco casually over the last 10 or so years, in fact I owned this album on a poorly care for swap meet compact disc. Downloaded a track here or there, listened in to "Americana Rock Radio " podcast. I knew I liked Wilco so when I started to collect vinyl LP's again one of the first two albums I ordered was "A.M.". My second album purchase was Wilco's "Schmilco" (an album I'm absolutely and absurdly fascinated with). Now; this album, "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" the Wilco album I'm most familiar with. Different listen than the digital copy I owned a few years back. Without going into review critical territory I'm really not qualified to venture into, I'll say it's different, it's more of everything great that the cd I owned was not. This album is the 180 gram black/2 lp version. I'm aware of another single standard weight lp on Amazon and can't comment on that one. The production/mastering must have been done with vinyl in mind as the sound from my set up is rich, dense and powerful. The 180 gram disks themselves are gorgeous, heavy and flat. This album also came with a cd of the album which I haven't ripped to my laptop yet, I like this feature as it allows mobile enjoyment in lossless format without extra purchase.
To sum it all up. Heavy, flat vinyl that sounds wonderful. Wilco is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Easily my favorite Wilco album of the five I own currently with Schmilco bringing up 2nd. With "Star Wars" and "Summerteeth" on the way though that could change.

“Jesus, Etc.” is a banger.

I was looking @ the Rolling Stone Magazine Top 500 albums of all time (ranked #493) & took a chance on something different for my tastes so I thought. This is one terrific CD. I read the story of how the group was told to take this back & rework it. The label was furious, so Jeff McGreedy & the band bought the album themselves & distributed it themselves. Last laugh on the label. Wilco cannot be taken for granted, all of their albums are different. This is some of the most original music I have heard in a long time. I have quite a collection of music, & Wilco has been playing constantly. I also purchased "Being There". They are both superior albums that are very difficult to dissect. However-----Take the chance, these guys are very professional & march to their own drummer.

This is a record everyone should own; it is fun and melodic, inventive, creative, and gives you that good audio buzz you got the first time you heard the Beatles, the Replacements, U2, or XTC.
Not that Wilco sounds like any of those bands--well, OK, maybe more than a tad like the 'Mats--but the same kind of Pop genius is at work here. Tweedy may lean C&W, but he understands Pop. There are touches of both BLONDE ON BLONDE and DESIRE-era Dylan, the Dead, the Byrds and the Band too. It's an amazing amalgom of styles boiled down into something original and new, purely Wilco.
I'd paid little attention to Wilco prior to YANKEE HOTEL FOXTROT because of what I still see as an overriding pretention in most Alt-Country. Tweedy sets all that aside here with a dose of close to the bone lyrics, McCartneyesque melodies, breathy vocals, and off-kilter instrumentation that I find absolutely absorbing.
This is a classic LP that most people will never hear because--here comes my constant complaint--American radio programmers are deaf to all but boy-bands, repititious rap, and hat-band country dullerdry.
Buy this record and remind yourself how great Pop can be.

I just recently got into Wilco and decided to buy Yankee Hotle Foxtrot after seeing them on the Hurricane Festival on Palladia. From beginning to end this album is really enjoyable mixing in all sorts of musical elements different sounds and great tracks. This album doesnt really have a bad song on it and is definately a good introduction to this band and explains why this album was so big when it came out. Heavy Metal Drummer is my favorite song cause it has such a great flow to it, a nice hook and implements different keyboard effects throughout. War on War and The Man That Loves You are also very worth mentioning but the whole album hooks you and makes you want to hear more from this band.

I couldnt be happier with this vinyl. the frist one I received was slightly damaged and recorded warped, I was able to replace that one easily and the second one was great with no damage. One of my favorite wilco albums in a beautiful package. It sounds amazing on my record player, a rich, clean and full sound. The package is beautiful with artwork and lyrics of all the songs and it comes with a free cd(not sure what im gonna do with it but still a plus. Overall a quality pressing of an amazing album and at a great price.

Wilco has made many good albums before "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot", but this one is truly their breakthrough. The majority of songs here are catchy, memorable, and musically/lyrically interesting which is a very hard thing to achieve. Singer Jeff Tweedy is definitely on his game here, and a lot of the pieces seem pretty original. It's mostly a very soothing and mellow album. The lyrics, especially, are pretty good. If you weren't a fan because of Wilco's previous albums I think this'll make you one. As for its sound, it tends to vary - it can be fast at times but it's mostly slow and emotional. A very satisfying album for Wilco fans and I think a great new direction for the band. Most people should love it. Highly recommended!

"Kamera"
"Radio Cure"
"War On War"

There's no doubt this is one of Wilco's finest albums. Everything really came together for them on this one and the following tour was one of their best. I'm very pleased with the vinyl release. Everything is really nicely done, which is typical of everything you'd get from Wilco. No issues whatsoever. It also includes a CD copy of the album. Bonus!

uno dei vertici espressivi dei Wilco
Reviewed in Italy on May 1, 2022
